Guest Blog: Andrew Joyce (Part 1)

Very informative and, yes, timely. Unfortunately, it seems we have not learned any lessons from a shameful time in our past; disheartening and so sad.

Today I’m honored to host the first of two guest blogs written by author Andrew Joyce. In this first post, Andrew shares the inspiration behind his latest work, Yellow Hair. He also gives a brief overview of the history between the United States government and the Sioux Nation during the 19th century, ending with the Great Sioux Uprising of 1862. Given current events—the fight to stop construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline—this powerful piece is as timely as it is heartbreaking.
